OUR MISSION

These projects are supported through enterprise, business education and mentor relationships, which teach self-sufficiency, and the initiative in realizing their self-defined goals. Through The B. Here are some of the recent graduates of the Fall B. Side Basics program. From left to right - Jessica, Kory (Volunteer Instructor), Howard and Dondalaya. This was a great group and they all deserve a big hand for hanging in there and learning everything they could about entrepreneurship and starting their own businesses. At least two of the individuals have plans to move on and compete in the Skandalaris Business Plan Competition. We will be here to support them all the way. Good Luck!

Eastern Michigan University Center For Entrepreneurship recently held its business plan workshop at EMU's student center. The B. Side has been involved in this event from the beginning and this year again was asked to provide a workshop exercise on Idea Generation. The event had a huge turn out with 150 high school students attending from as far away as Pontiac. This years work shop also included a business pitch competition for EMU student's, which the winner received an iPad2 sponsored by DI. The winning pitch was from "Too Hot Drinkware",presented by Kyle Sharp (left). The product, which was demonstrated at the event, changed color when hot liquid was poured into it. Not a new concept, but the technology is an improvement over previous methods. Congrats!

This video was one of a few that Marty Stano (The Lazerbolt, LLC) shot and put together with youth from the community for the Stop Think Connect campaign during a 3 Day B. Side of A. workshop. This 30 second PSA was entered in a Homeland Security competition. We didn't win, but we received great reviews.
